I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true church. I know that Jesus is my Savior and Redeemer. I know he is the Son of God and that because of him, I have the opportunity to return to my Father in Heaven. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet and that Joseph Smith was called of God to restore this church.
I know many of these things from singing the hymns. I hope that my arrangements of these sacred hymns bear my testimony to you--and that you can feel what I have felt while working on them.

The First Noel

With the return of triple digit weather this past week, I needed something to cool me down.  And since the AC just wasn't doing it, I decided to focus on Christmas music and hope that while thinking about something that takes place in cooler temperatures, maybe I could keep cool as well!

This song is arranged for three-part women's voices (SSA), violin, with piano.
In this song, I tried to picture the emotions of the angels, of Mary, of Joseph--of the ones who understood what the birth of Jesus really meant.  Because Christ was born, He could later suffer in Gethsemane for the sins of the world, die on the cross, and be resurrected.  Mary, Joseph, the angels--they knew this, and the shepherds learned from them.  They knew who this baby was and what joy we might have because of His life, and consequently His death.  I tried to encompass the triumph--the exultance-brought by Christ's birth in this arrangement.

Lyrics:
The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the East beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord
That hath made Heaven and earth of nought
And with his blood mankind has bought.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

I hope you enjoy-thanks for listening!
